Start a Food Business
We all eat it, every single day -- sometimes several times a day.
And that makes it a recession-proof business of the first order.
Food businesses are one of the most growth-oriented in the current economic climate. First, the desire for new and interesting foods increases as older influences wane. If you doubt it, check out the constantly renewing crop of shows on the Food Network, or the food-based shows slowly infiltrating the Travel Channel.
Second, food is here to stay, people, and if you want to start a business around food, there's no better time to get started.
If you want to bake, can or process food, your state government will have specific regulations. If you want to open a bakery, restaurant or catering company, the rules change according to local zoning rules.
The preparation is sometimes arduous, but the results are undeniable. It's your food being eaten by thousands, if not millions, of people. And if food is love, as they say, then you're loving on a lot of folks indeed.
Just stay out of our neighborhood if you're opening a cupcake shop, OK?
