Prosperity Meditation: Right Livelihood
Buddhists have
a concept called Right Livelihood, which encourages its followers to
find ways of making a living that bring no harm to sentient beings.
Sometimes, this brings up all kinds of complications. Rendering
animals for food, for instance, necessarily involves killing. So the
challenge arises, for all of us, when we give some thought to what we
do on a daily basis.
Does what we do hurt the environment? Other people? National
economies? Does our work help to bridge gaps in communication? Assist
other people in becoming self-sufficient? Or prevent harm from
claiming lives or property? This meditation is designed to help you
determine how you might bring your life closer to the concept of Right
Livelihood.
Please
practice safety when listening to this complimentary meditation. Maybe
it goes without saying, but please don't try this while driving, or
operating heavy machinery.
Most of all, enjoy what your mind has to share with you.
